John Mappin – Entrepreneur and Philanthropist
Many entrepreneurs give back to their community, but John Mappin has taken his philanthropy one step further. While Camelot Castle is a well run commercial establishment, it was always the intention of the Mappin’s to use the location and venue to help the art world and to foster and encourage new artistic talent from across Great Britain. John and his wife Irina, together with popular artist Ted Stourton, have founded the Artists in Residence Programme, which allows young, talented artists the chance to live and work at Camelot Castle, free from the financial constraints that often plague young artists. John also supports the Icons of the Future programme that is aimed at educating and mentoring artists around Great Britain.
The Artists in Residence Programme teaches young artists about remaining viable and able to support themselves financially without having to sacrifice their artistic expression and their talent.
John Mappin has a deep love for the arts and for raising the profile of artists. Camelot Castle is a perfect vehicle, venue and creative space for artists to find their inspiration. John Mappin continues to manage his independent newspaper group and bring about positive change to the world through his works and his philanthropy.
